🚨HUGE: Anthropic’s IPO filing reveals nearly $900 BILLION in future commitments for servers, buildings and power. For scale, that exceeds the annual nominal GDP of more than 160 countries individually. The obligations include $321 BILLION in leases that haven’t started and $265.6 BILLION in purchase agreements, which quadrupled between December and June. These commitments sit outside the headline balance sheet, which reports $117.5 billion in liabilities and $112 billion in cash. The final bill could climb further as electricity prices, hardware costs and other variable charges change. Anthropic plans to fund the expansion through revenue growth and fresh capital. The pressure mounts as commitments must be paid even if the expected revenue fails to materialize.
